Burleigh Week 2019

In its inaugural year, the Burleigh Legacy Alliance achieved a perpetual proclamation of December 2nd as Harry T. Burleigh Day from the City of Erie to commemorate his birthday and raise awareness of his legacy in the Erie region. Harry T. Burleigh Week 2019 reached thousands of community members with performances and featured public discourse illuminating the community’s commemorative practices in both celebration and ‘ethnic erasure’. Program partners included the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, and City of Erie, Erie Arts & Culture's New Horizons Initiative.
